Fifth Grade Makes Dams

Ffith graders have been studying constructive and destructive forces.  In this study we look at human interventions and technologies.  Dams are one human intervention that are used to control flooding and have other benefits to humans.  Students designed and built working dams.  These dams had to hold back water, let water flow and stop the water from flowing.  Enjoy the slideshow below of some great dams:

Fifth Graders Learn About Lava Viscosity

As fifth grade studies constructive and destructive forces we took yesterday to learn about lava viscosity. We learned that the viscosity of lava can determine the explosion of volcanos.
